Learning Management System:RCampus

Application: Week 4

After researching the learning management system named RCampus (http://www.rcampus.com/), I began to see what a wonderful tool this could be for our students. RCampus offers a class website called a “portal”. This portal, or website, has all the links, materials, grade book, and calendars the specific course will need.

As I searched RCampus’ website I found that their grade book option allows for scoring using rubrics, numeric or letter grades, and has options which allow teachers to set a time and a date when the grades are available. This option is a great tool for students who need to be kept on track for deadlines and for parents who want to be kept up to date on which projects and assignments are due. Grades can be tabulated automatically and class performances can be analyzed. RCampus offers the option for teachers to message students regarding grades and assignments as well as making private notes to themselves.

One of the options that I feel I would be most thrilled in having is the page called the “Coursework Properties Page” on the classroom portal. This is where the teacher creates, edits, and can attach documents, rubrics, and set grading and time frames for the entire course. What a great way to stay organized and on task.

Allowing our students to work collaboratively using technology such as RCampus allows our students to practice using 21st century skills, use motivational technology , and keeps the learning interesting.
