GAME Plan:week 5

This week's BLOG post is a continuation of last week's. The only new thing I can add to this week's post is that we started writing a PBL lesson plan. I use projects in my classroom on a regular basis but for whatever reason it took me forever to narrow down what I wanted to present as a lesson plan this week. I think I was just making the assignment bigger than it really was. I thought PBL had to be this huge , complex project but I think that the idea of PBL is that the students are given a problem (big or small) and, working together in small groups, they find a resolution to that problem and present it to their peers as some product (PowerPoint etc).
As for my GAME Plan goals: I have looked at the materials that I need to cover with my students next school year and I am trying to figure out how to create PBL lessons using current issues.

  1. Laura,

I had the same problem. I could have written this post! I am struggling with asking them if a Deaf culture exists or how technology in a deaf home would be different from a hearing home.

  2. I had the same issue narrowing down my options and choosing one idea for my PBL. I also use projects throughout my class and the task seemed daunting until I began working on the assignment. It is interesting that no matter how many years we teach the same subject, it is different every time due to what is happening in the world. Good luck!

  3. I'm glad I 'm not the only one struggling to find an appropriate problem for the students to solve. Lynn, I like your idea.
